Project led by Fomento de San Sebastián. It has monitored (through technology) energy consumption and production to improve energy efficiency in public buildings and public lighting.

  • WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT?

The Best Energy Project was based on cutting-edge technologies from various areas (construction, lighting, information and communications) in innovative control and monitoring systems.

The initial aim was to reduce energy consumption by 12 % in buildings and by 30 % in public lighting. To achieve this, energy consumption and production were continuously controlled in real time through screens.

The Project also tried to raise awareness about energy consumption in order to change how citizens behave in this respect.

  • WHAT were the main activities?

    The programme consisted of:

    • Designing and launching control systems based on new technology that allowed consumption and production to be monitored in real time.
    • Centralising the control of energy production and energy in order to analyse energy efficiency from the perspective of consumption and from an economic viewpoint.
    • Implementing measures to improve energy efficiency after analysing the collected data.
    • Analysing cost-saving through energy saving achieved by improving energy efficiency.
  • WHO FUNDS THIS?

The Best Energy project was co-funded by the “Information and Communication Technologies Policy Support Programme” (ICT-PSP) of the European Union (GA no. 238889).
