Coordinated by Fomento San Sebastián ecoRIS3 was an interregional cooperation project to strengthen innovation ecosystems co-funded by the second call issued for Interreg Europe funds.

  • WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT?

Fomento San Sebastián led the ecoRIS3 project. This Project aimed to reinforce the innovation ecosystems of its partners by exchanging knowledge in each of the four pillars of quadruple helix innovation: academia, the public sphere, industry and civil society.

  • WHAT actions were carried out?

The Project ran for 5 years and was carried in two stages:

1st stage: Good practices exchange and action plan design phase.

In this first stage (3 years) the following were carried out:

    • 4 inter-regional workshops.
    • 8 study visits.
    • 3 seminars.
    • 1 SWOT analysis.

Based on the individual SWOT analysis on the knowledge acquired in the workshops, each partner designed their own action plan.

    2nd stage: implementation stage

The aim of this second stage (which ran for two years) was to implement the action plans and analyse their impact.

2 pilot initiatives were developed within the framework of the initial project. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Interreg Europe programme agreed to extend the programme for another 12 months in order to analyse the impact of the pandemic on the development of each partner’s action plans.

  • WHO FUNDS THIS?

The Project is funded by the Interreg Europe programme.
