Co-funded by the EU Interreg Europe programme, DEVISE was set up to meet the challenges faced by European regions and cities to foster digitalisation in their key business sectors.

• WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT?

  DEVISE (Digital tech SMEs at the service of Regional Smart Specialisation Strategies) was a Project whose aim was to meet the challenges faced by European regions and cities to make the most of the potential that digital tech SMEs have to enable SMEs belonging to other key sectors to be competitive. The project ran for four and a half years

  The specific aims were:

  • To explore how to enable, through public policies, key sectors to adopt digital solutions.
  • To help to create, in the ten European regions in the project, environments conducive to digital transformation.
  • To encourage closer collaboration between SMEs in the digital sector and those in other key sectors.

  Fomento San Sebastián analysed the supply of, and demand for, digitalization processes. As for the demand, the needs of the companies in the retail and hospitality sectors in San Sebastián were analysed. As for the supply, on the other hand, the potential of digital tech services companies was exploited.

• WHAT ACTIONS WERE CARRIED OUT?

  To discover the main challenges and opportunities that companies were going to face in their digital transformation processes, the following was carried out:

  • Analysing supply and demand of digital services.
  • Identifying and studying good practices.
  • Organising study visits and exchange experiences.
  • Defining and implementing a local action plan and monitoring the outcomes.
  • Organising awareness-raising and communication events with local agents and companies in the digital, retail and hospitality sectors.
