The Councillor for Economic Promotion, Marisol Garmendia, attended the annual meeting of the Foundation´s Board of Trustees at which the incorporation of San Sebastian into this network of more than 100 members was confirmed.
Promoting innovation as a driver of economic and social development is the mission of this private, non-profit Foundation. San Sebastian is already, along with Malaga, Gijon, Valladolid and Madrid, one of the few cities that are part of the COTEC Foundation. The incorporation of the capital of Gipuzkoa into the Foundation was made official during the annual meeting held by the members of the institution and attended by the Councillor for Economic Promotion, Marisol Garmendia, representing the Society. The meeting was chaired by HM King Felipe VI, in his capacity as Honorary President.
Fomento San Sebastian's membership of the Foundation reinforces the city´s commitment to innovation as a key driver for the future development of San Sebastian and will give it access to a wide network of experts in innovation, education, technology and the economy.
In addition, Fomento San Sebastian will be able to make consultations, have access to first class studies and information and also develop collaborations and projects with leading agents and entities within the framework of this network. All of this will contribute to tackling the city's challenges from a focus on innovation and with a social impact.
