  • Observaciones: Munster Technological University (MTU) is one of the largest third-level educational providers in Ireland with a strong student-centred approach to education and research. MTU is comprised of six campuses across the Southwest Region of Ireland, including the Faculties of Engineering & Science and Business, the Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork School of Music and the National Maritime College of Ireland - all with strong outreach activities in the region. The University has over 1,400 staff and 18,000 students ranging from undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programmes. The Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence is part of the Faculty of Business and is an integral part of the vibrant award-winning Entrepreneurship ecosystem at MTU. The centre supports entrepreneurship in all its forms through research, education, and training. The Hincks Centre has a strong international focus with research partners in most countries in Europe, South Africa, Vietnam, and Thailand. With over 10 years of experience hosting Global Trainees at MTU, the role varies each year depending on the projects and activities at the Hincks Centre and the Faculty of Business. The Trainee will be part of a dynamic team of researchers, educator, and students working on various research projects, educational programmes, and student activities related to sustainability. The Trainee will have excellent support during their time at the University, honing their skills and learning new ones. Additionally, the Trainee will be co-hosted by the Clean Technology Centre (CTC) which was established in 1992 and has been active since, providing support and assistance to governments, the EU, national agencies, the business community, local authorities and communities. CTC is widely accepted as one of the leading, and one of the oldest, organisations in Ireland promoting sustainability. The Trainee will mainly work on the projects ‘Barriers and Enablers to Ireland’s Transition to a Circular Economy’ and ‘RetreadLab’. The work adopts a unique approach to transforming and expanding the use of a well-established but underutilised circular system contributing to ‘Sustainable Cities’, ‘Eco-Innovation\\\\\\\' and ‘Sustainable mobility’. While tyre retreading has existed for over a century, its decline in Europe highlights that technical feasibility alone is insufficient to ensure adoption. Our work therefore takes a comprehensive and multifaceted approach, simultaneously addressing the key uncertainties, structural barriers, and information gaps that currently limit uptake. By intervening across multiple points in the system (data, perception, procurement, and material supply) the projects are designed to unlock the full circular potential of retreaded tyres.
