Energy efficiency

Fomento de San Sebastián, in collaboration with the City Council Department of the Environment and of the Water and Sanitation Operation Service, provides shops and households with a service offering advice on energy efficiency together with smart meters and a platform to monitor energy and water consumption, in order to reduce energy consumption and the financial cost resulting from this.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS

The commercial establishments that have joined SmartKalea have access to an electricity consumption monitoring platform. The aim of this activity is to improve energy efficiency by optimising the different existing devices and installations. To do this, personalised expert advice is offered to the shops taking part, providing comprehensive analysis of each shop and multi-level savings measures: optimization of the electrical supply, personalised guidance to improve the energy efficiency of the various devices and installations, etc.

Furthermore, among the shops that had joined the project, users were grouped together to buy 100% renewable electrical energy, which achieves lower rates, and also encourages environmental sustainability.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN HOMES

In the project homes that have joined this initiative are monitored, which allows them to analyse their consumption and take measures to reduce electricity consumption in their homes, which results in saving money. The homes also have smart water meters to improve their management as far as possible which results in saving money on water bills and on associated waste and sewage charges. As well as monitoring water and electricity consumption, the service provided is rounded off by advice on energy issues, with good practice guidelines to raise environmental awareness that will result in improvements in energy efficiency in homes and financial savings.
