Smart Eco-Neighbourhoods: an opportunity for sustainable economic development

20.jun - 21.jun

Idioma oficial de la actividad: español.

When rolling out these increasingly ambitious models and projects within the field of Eco-Neighbourhoods and Smart Cities, it is necessary to assume clear local leadership and integrate the work of all municipal departments in a coordinated way.

Smart neighbourhoods should include from the outset more sustainable urban criteria: compactness, blended and flexible uses, integration of nature in the urban space, attractive environment to live and work, bioclimatic buildings, recovery of built fabric, sustainable mobility, energy efficiency and integration of renewable energies. Furthermore, initiatives should be developed with regard to water management, waste management, health and wellbeing, integration into the city itself, citizen participation, etc.

The proposals presented are classified into 5 areas of action:

  1. Integrated infrastructures.
  2. Mobility and accessibility.
  3. Urban metabolism, water and waste management.
  4. Sustainable construction.
  5. Energy.

Objectives

The aim of this course is to create a space for reflection about increasingly sustainable, efficient and environmentally friendly city models, supported by the use of new technologies.

  • Non-university students
