Arrowhead

Arrowhead is a European R&D and Innovation project aimed at developing technologies for the provision of advanced services in cities of the future. The main aim is to increase energy efficiency and create greater flexibility in the use of energy through cooperative automation in buildings and public infrastructures, industrial processes and the energy sector utilising embedded technologies.

 

The aim is to increase energy efficiency and create greater flexibility in the use of energy through cooperative automation in buildings and public infrastructures, industrial processes and the energy sector utilising Embedded Technologies. In the city of San Sebastian, work focuses on aspects of Energy Efficiency in Buildings, Eco- Sufficient Housing and Smart Lighting, all within what is known as the Smart City initiative, where one of the main challenges is to meet society’s needs whilst reducing environmental impact.

 

Arrowhead is an R&D initiative with a budget of 67 million euros and a timeframe of 4 years. 77 entities from 15 countries are taking part in the project, which is promoted and jointly financed 2 by the European Union and the Ministry of Industry within the Artemis project, part of the seventh Framework Programme, focusing on two aspects: "the automation of production and energy systems" and "smart constructions and urban infrastructures for friendly sustainable cities".
